Katie's Kash

In Covington, TN, there is a haven of inspiration known as "Agape", a Christian bookstore that exudes love, faith, and compassion. Lori-Beth, the store's warm and welcoming owner, is a beacon of kindness, always eager to extend a helping hand to those in need.

On January 28th, 2023, Lori-Beth found herself engrossed in a conversation with volunteers who frequented her store. They often gathered to discuss their various initiatives and causes, brainstorming ways to make a positive impact in the community.

During one of these heart-to-heart sessions, Lori-Beth shared a story close to her heart. She spoke of her dear friend Katie and her young son Kash, who were enduring a tough period in their lives. Young Kash was scheduled for an open-heart surgery, a prospect that weighed heavily on their hearts.

As Lori-Beth spoke of Katie and Kash's trials, the volunteers were deeply moved by the story. Their shared desire to help, coupled with Lori-Beth's heartfelt plea, set the wheels in motion for a heartwarming surprise.

Lori-Beth, with her finger firmly on the pulse of the community, helped coordinate a plan. The volunteers, along with Lori-Beth herself, decided to embark on a mission to surprise Katie and Kash, to let them know that they were not alone in their struggles.

First, they made a stop at a local food ministry, "Taste & See," run by Heather Ellis. This ministry is not just about providing nourishing meals but also about offering a sense of belonging and community to those in need. The volunteers picked up a comforting pot pie from "Taste & See," intending to share it as a gesture of love and support.

With the pot pie as a symbol of community, the volunteers loaded up their vehicles with gifts and a sense of purpose. When they arrived at Katie's home, the surprise was met with tearful astonishment and profound gratitude. The volunteers presented Katie with a gift of one thousand dollars, which would help alleviate some of the burdens she was facing.

To add to the moment, the volunteers also handed over the pot pie from "Taste & See". It was a gesture that carried the warmth of the community and the comfort of shared meals. It served as a reminder that, in times of difficulty, friends and strangers alike were there to offer solace.

Katie was genuinely touched by the outpouring of support. The volunteers, driven by the kindness exemplified by Lori-Beth, had brought a ray of light into Katie's home and hearts.

This story serves as a reminder of the incredible impact that compassion and community can have. It demonstrates the power of caring people coming together to make a difference in the lives of those facing adversity. It's a testament to the love and support that can be found within the hearts of individuals like Lori-Beth, Heather Ellis, and the dedicated volunteers who extended a helping hand.
